Narrative Description of Project: |
|
The goal of the project was to provide targeted technical assistance and training, and limited commodity support, to promote the accelerated adoption and implementation of key macroeconomic and structural reforms required for economic stabilization and recovery in Montenegro, as well as support for privatization and development of a corresponding secondary market trading capability.
Significant strides were taken by the Montenegrin government to develop a regulatory reform strategy that would promote the development of an investor friendly legal and regulatory framework. Targeted assistance needed to be provided by CAPMEX to ensure that these efforts are translated into concrete and coordinated business regulatory reforms which meet the threshold criteria necessary to satisfy investors (both domestic and foreign), that basic property, contract, corporate governance, and trading rights will be appropriately established and respected, that a market-oriented competition law regime is in place, and that a transparent public procurement system is in operation. |
